In these enchanting early years, where little beings are tender, vulnerable, yet brimming with the capacity to learn through their senses, we provide a nurturing environment for our children to grow and blossom. Our early years program encompasses six fundamental areas of learning, each essential for a well-rounded foundation:
This area focuses on cultivating dispositions, attitudes, self-confidence, self-esteem, building relationships, nurturing positive behavior and self-control, and fostering a sense of community among our young learners.
We guide our students in developing their language skills, both for effective communication and thoughtful expression. This encompasses language for communication, language for thinking, linking sounds and letters, reading, writing, and handwriting.
Our curriculum equips children with numerical and problem-solving skills, including understanding numbers, counting, calculations, and exploring shapes, space, and measurements.
We emphasize the importance of physical well-being, encompassing movement and spatial awareness, health and bodily awareness, and the use of equipment and materials to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
This area encourages exploration, investigation, designing, making, proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT), understanding concepts of time and place, and fostering a sense of belonging to various communities.
We nurture creativity through artistic endeavors, including exploring various media and materials, creating music and dance, and fostering imaginative play, all of which help in the development of a child's imagination and creativity.

Our approach to teaching and learning is deeply influenced by visionary thinkers and philosophers such as Frederick Froebel, who believed that play is the engine of real learning, the Reggio Emilia philosophy emphasizing experiential learning, and Dr. Howard Gardner's concept of multiple intelligences, ensuring that we cater to diverse learning styles through a variety of teaching aids and techniques
Grades I to VIII
Avalon's educational approach centers on preparing 21st-century learners for a dynamic world. We've adopted Integration and Project-Based Learning (PBL) to break down the barriers between subjects, fostering interdisciplinary understanding. Integration allows us to blend subjects organically, making education more practical through hands-on projects and real-world applications.
Our chosen method is primarily PBL, emphasizing skill development and positive habits of mind. It enables students to deeply grasp concepts and prepare for real-life challenges. We organize content into thematic units, each with a central idea, enduring understanding, and essential question, promoting critical thinking and interdisciplinary skills.
Learning activities revolve around these themes, connecting subjects and culminating in practical tasks. These tasks, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), nurture global citizens equipped with vital 21st-century skills. For example, students might raise funds for NGOs addressing cancer patients' nutritional needs.
To reinforce their understanding, students engage in reflective essay writing, deepening comprehension and demonstrating real-life relevance. At Avalon, we've transitioned from traditional teacher-led classes to student-led PBL, empowering students to take ownership of their learning journey. This approach promotes collaboration, offers choices, and encourages reflection, all essential elements of our pedagogy.
At Avalon, we recognize that physical growth is the cornerstone for all aspects of a child's development – mental, moral, spiritual, and emotional. We understand that children undergo different stages of physical development at varying ages. Therefore, our physical education program is meticulously aligned with their normative and dynamic development at each stage of their journey.
Our commitment to nurturing physical development includes the following initiatives:
At Avalon, our holistic physical education programs go beyond the ordinary. We dedicate an hour each day to prioritize physical well-being through a balanced approach. This includes half an hour of invigorating free play during games, encouraging social skills, creativity & imagination along with boosting physical health. We kickstart every morning with a half-hour session of structured exercises meticulously designed to target various core muscle groups, setting a positive tone for the day. These activities not only enhance physical fitness but also serve as a foundation for instilling essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and self-confidence. At Avalon, we believe in nurturing both the body and the mind through our comprehensive physical education programs.
To ensure the well-being of our students, we conduct annual medical and dental check-ups. These check-ups serve as proactive measures to identify health issues in a timely manner. The reports are shared with parents, and recommendations are provided for any necessary follow-up actions.
We believe in the importance of educating our students about healthy food habits, as well as topics related to sex education and hygiene. To this end, we organize talks, workshops, and special assemblies to provide students with essential knowledge and awareness.
The emergence of COVID-19 brought about profound realizations and valuable lessons for everyone. At Avalon, one of our most significant takeaways was the heightened importance of health. It was during this period that the concept of "Swasth Avalon" was conceived. "Swasth Avalon" stands for 'Students for Wellness Awareness, Scientific Temperament, and Health.' This initiative is a testament to our commitment to promoting a healthy body and a sound mind within our community.
"Swasth Avalon" is not just a fleeting event; it's a unique week-long festival that sheds light on various dimensions of health and wellness. While the festival spans a week, our dedication to fitness and wellness awareness extends throughout the academic year.
At Avalon, we understand that health is not merely an event but a way of life. Through "Swasth Avalon" and our ongoing efforts, we aim to inspire, educate, and empower our community to prioritize their well-being and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Our physical education programs are critical for the holistic development of our students. As Howard Cosell aptly stated, "Sports is human life in microcosm." On the playground, students not only experience the physical and health benefits of sports but also learn valuable life lessons. They discover the importance of teamwork, responsibility, self-confidence, and coping with both success and failure. These values are integral to achieving success in various aspects of life, including work, academics, and personal relationships.
Avalon's commitment to fostering a love for physical activity begins at a young age. For our kindergarteners, we introduce on-field athletics, gymnastics, and yoga, alongside opportunities for free play. As students progress into primary school, they are presented with a diverse range of physical activities to choose from, encouraging them to explore their interests. In middle and high school, students engage in team games, structured to equip them with knowledge and perspective should they choose to pursue physical education vocationally.
Physical education classes are integrated into our daily timetable, and we offer additional after-school classes for students who wish to delve deeper into specific sports. We collaborate with specialized coaches and utilize extensive facilities to provide our students with a well-rounded and enriching physical education experience.
As Laurence Malone wisely said, "The finish line is sometimes merely the symbol of victory. All sorts of personal triumphs take place before that point, and the outcome of the race may actually be decided long before the end." At Avalon, we believe that these personal triumphs and life lessons learned through sports are invaluable, shaping our students into well-rounded individuals ready to conquer life's challenges.
